Verse 1:
Last time we fought ‘bout how to feed the cows,
I stormed off, built that barn somehow.
Tore down the old one, started brand new,
Didn’t say a word, but the timber flew.
With every swing of the hammer, I cooled my head,
By sunset, that barn was standin’ instead.

Chorus:
Every time me and the wife fight,
I get more work done, outta sight.
I get mad, leave the house in a storm,
But she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.

Verse 2:
We got into it ‘bout money runnin’ thin,
So I cleared out that tree stand with a big ol’ grin.
Four more acres added, that’s land to spare,
She knows when I’m angry, I go out there.
Now there’s more room to plant and more room to grow,
And she’ll keep on fightin’, just to watch me go!

Chorus:
Every time me and the wife fight,
I get more work done, outta sight.
I get mad, leave the house in a storm,
But she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.

Verse 3:
We argued ‘bout them peaches, wouldn’t you know,
Next thing, I’m talkin’ to folks, puttin’ on a show.
Started agro-tourism, showin’ ‘em around,
Now city folks pay just to walk my ground.
We’re makin’ more money, thanks to her little jab,
She’s got me workin’, and I don’t feel too bad!

Chorus:
Every time me and the wife fight,
I get more work done, outta sight.
I get mad, leave the house in a storm,
But she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.

Bridge:
I’m out fixin’ fences, mendin’ the shed,
She keeps eggin’ me on, gettin’ in my head.
Soil testin’, plowin’ the land,
I’m her workhorse, and she’s got the plan.
And every time she picks a fight,
I head to the henhouse to collect eggs at night.
She’s smart, she knows how to work that charm—
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm!

Chorus:
Every time me and the wife fight,
I get more work done, outta sight.
I get mad, leave the house in a storm,
But she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.

Outro:
So if you see me out there, swingin’ a hoe,
She’s probably just started somethin’, lettin’ me go.
With every silly spat, this farm gets strong,
She’s doin’ her part… and I’m just taggin’ along.
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm!

She’s Doin’ Her Part to Save the Farm
By Alan Nafzger (1995)

Every time we have a spat,
She knows just where I’m headed at.
I storm out mad, leave the house in a roar,
But soon enough, I’m fixin’ more.
She’s got her way, that subtle charm,
Yeah, she’s doin’ her part to save the farm.

We argued ‘bout the cows one day,
Next thing, I built that barn from hay.
Didn’t say a word, just let the hammer fly,
By sunset, the barn was reaching the sky.
With every swing, my temper eased,
She watched, arms crossed, looking pleased.

Chorus:
She’s doin’ her part, and I’m pullin’ the plow,
Gettin’ more work done, and I don’t know how.
I get mad, but it don’t last long,
Cause she’s savin’ the farm, and I’m movin’ along.
Every time she picks a fight,
I build, I plow, from morning ‘til night.

We bickered once ‘bout money tight,
So I cleared four acres out of sight.
Choppin’ down trees, lettin’ off steam,
She knows when I’m mad, I work like a dream.
Now there’s room to grow, land to spare,
I guess she knew I’d end up out there.

Then came the fight ‘bout those peach trees,
Next thing you know, I’m bringin’ in fees.
Agrotourism, folks pay to walk my land,
She lit the spark, and here I stand.
Now they stroll, payin’ just to see,
And she’s smilin’, noddin’ at me.

Out there mendin’ fences, fixin’ the shed,
She’s always got somethin’ runnin’ in my head.
I’m her workhorse, she’s got the plan,
Eggin’ me on like only she can.
With every spat, this farm gets strong,
And I’m just followin’ along.

Outro:
So if you see me swingin’ that hoe,
You know she’s startin’ somethin’, lettin’ me go.
With every little fight, this farm gets strong,
She’s doin’ her part, and I’m just taggin’ along.
