Lyrics: Pray for Rain

Verse 1:
Lord, I’ve been on my knees, tried to do my part,
Prayed for the rain with all my heart.
Every drop’s been precious, but they’ve been few,
Lord, we’re out here thirsty, and we’re turning to You.

Chorus:
So we pray for rain, from Your skies above,
A little sprinkle, a sign of love.
Clouds gather up, then roll away,
But we’re on our knees, Lord, just trying to pray.

Verse 2:
I’ve tried to bring the rain, Lord, any way I can,
But it’s clear I need a better plan.
The weatherman keeps teasing, says it might come soon,
But we’re still here waiting, staring at the moon.

Chorus:
So we pray for rain, let Your blessings fall,
A drop or two, a shower for us all.
Clouds drift by, teasing every day,
But we’re here, Lord, on our knees, just trying to pray.

Bridge:
We’ve tilled the fields, done all we know,
But it’s You, Lord, who makes things grow.
So we look up, hands raised high,
Asking You, Lord, to open the sky.

Verse 3:
Neighbors say we’re foolish, asking for the rain,
But we know, Lord, You hear every refrain.
We trust in Your timing, and Your perfect plan,
So we keep on praying, here on this dry land.

Chorus:
So we pray for rain, from Your skies above,
A little sprinkle, a sign of love.
Clouds gather up, then roll away,
But we’re on our knees, Lord, just trying to pray.

Outro:
We’ll keep on working, through the dust and heat,
‘Cause we know, Lord, You’ll bring the rain we need.
Until then, we’ll pray, through drought and pain,
Knowing in our hearts, You’ll send that rain.

Pray for Rain

by Alan Nafzger

Lord, I’ve been on knees, did my best to plead,
Prayed for just a drop, that’s all we really need.
The sky’s been stingy, holding back its flow,
We’re looking up and hoping, asking You to show.

We’ve danced and we’ve asked, in every kind of way,
Watched the clouds gather, then simply drift away.
The weatherman keeps teasing, says it’s coming soon,
But still, we’re left here waiting, dry as a Texas dune.

So we till the land, and trust in Your great plan,
Knowing that You hear us, every simple man.
With hands held high, we call out to the sky,
Hoping, Lord, you’ll answer, sending rain from up on high.

Neighbors might say we’re foolish, longing for the rain,
But we know You’re listening, through every drought and strain.
We’ll work and we’ll pray, through dust and through pain,
Trusting in Your mercy, for that long-awaited rain.
