Thank God for Moms— Music and Lyrics by Alan Nafzger
(Verse 1)
When I was young, I’d climb those haystacks tall,
Mom’d holler, “Boy, you’ll break your neck if you fall!”
She had me wearing helmets just to ride the old John Deere,
A slow-moving tractor, but she was always near.
(Pre-Chorus)
She kept a close watch, didn’t miss a single thing,
From the chickens in the coop to the cows in the ring.
Had GPS on the cows and on me, too,
Looking back now, I see what she was trying to do.
(Chorus)
Overalls, overprotective, and never over it.
Thank God for farm moms, always keepin’ us safe,
Even when they overdid it, it was love wrapped in faith.
From tracking the tractor to sunscreen galore,
Thank God for farm moms, couldn’t have asked for more.
Yeah, they worried too much, but their hearts were strong,
And now I see it—thank God for mom.
(Verse 2)
“Don’t eat that carrot, it’s straight from the dirt!”
She’d scrub it down like no way I could get hurt.
She had me washing apples till they sparkled like new,
She hated the goats for knockin’ me down a peg or two.
(Pre-Chorus)
She made me text her every time the pigs were fed,
And put reflective tape on me to go get the mail.
But man, when times got tough, she was always there,
With her apron on and that love beyond compare.
(Bridge)
She stood and watched like I was walking a tightrope,
“Don’t go near the barn,” she’d say, “those cows are full of bull!”
But now I see the worry in her eyes back then,
She wasn’t just protecting me, she was teaching her son.
(Outro)
So here’s to farm moms, who never let us fall,
Through every scraped knee, and through it all.
Thank God for farm moms, with their love so true,
Looking back now, I know I owe it all to you.

“We’re installing a baby monitor in the barn.”
“You can’t drive the tractor until you’re 25.”
“Don’t pet the chickens without gloves!”
“I’ll just stand here and watch.”
Farm Moms Are a Kick
by Alan Nafzger
In the barn, a monitor hums, keeping watch all night,
Mom’s got her eye on every shadow, every little light.
“Don’t climb that haystack, you’ll break your neck!”
I couldn’t take a step without her cautious check.
A tractor parked, sign bold and clear,
“No driving ‘til you’re 25, do you hear?”
I’d stand there frustrated, wanting to steer,
But Mom’s overprotection was always near.
Petting the chickens, gloves way too big,
I’d chuckle at the sight, but it wasn’t my gig.
Mom would watch with a cautious glance,
Ready to jump in at the first chance.
From washing apples until they’d gleam,
To fearing goats with a mischievous scheme,
Every move I made, she’d stand and stare,
Making sure her boy was always aware.
But looking back now, with love I see,
How her worry was her gift to me.
Through the farm’s rough paths and life’s sharp turns,
Her care was the lesson I’d never unlearn.
So here’s to farm moms, always in the mix,
With their hearts of gold and their overprotective tricks.
They might worry too much, but their love’s the glue,
And thank God for farm moms, they always come through!
